Adult Horsemanship Riding

Learn with Every Ride

Adult Horsemanship Our Adult Horsemanship Program at Oak Hill Ranch is designed for adults who want more than just a horseback ride—they want the confidence and skills to become true horsemen and horsewomen. Over the course of eight two-hour lessons, you’ll learn the fundamentals of riding, including how to ask your horse to go, stop, and turn while developing a centered, balanced seat. You’ll practice keeping your horse on a straight path, even when it wants to drift off course, and safely navigate hills and changing terrain. Beyond riding, you’ll gain hands-on knowledge of proper horse care, grooming, saddling, and preparing for the trail. By the end of the program, you’ll have the skills and confidence to enjoy riding safely and independently. As our way of celebrating your accomplishment, every graduate receives a complimentary trail ride from Oak Hill Ranch—a chance to put your new skills to work while enjoying the beauty and peace of riding through nature.

Trail Rides

Private Ride, Relaxed Ride.

Our horses are not “follow-the-leader” trail horses. They are responsive riding horses that rely on their riders for direction. Our trails are natural and not heavily traveled, so riders must be able to confidently steer, control speed, maintain balance over uneven terrain, and handle unexpected situations. Riding experience is required and defined by

Have you ridden independently, without your horse following another horse?

Can you confidently walk, trot, and canter while steering your horse?

Have you ridden on natural, uneven trails where you were responsible for choosing your horse’s path?

How many hours have you ridden in the past 2 years?
